INSPIRE: Seven strategies for ending violence against children


INSPIRE is 7 evidence-based strategies for everyone committed to preventing and responding to violence against children and adolescents — including governments, grassroots, civil society, and the private sector. These are designed to support countries and communities to intensify their focus on prevention programmes and services, strengthening public consensus that it will not be tolerated.

INSPIRE includes two cross-cutting activities that together help connect and strengthen – and assess progress towards – the seven strategies.

INSPIRE: Seven Strategies for Ending Violence Against Children (Executive Summary)

10 agencies with a long history of galvanizing a consistent, evidence-based approach to preventing violence against children have collaborated to develop INSPIRE. These agencies stand together and urge countries and communities to intensify their efforts to prevent and respond to violence against children by implementing the strategies in this package.

INSPIRE Guide to Adaptation and Scale Up

This Guide for Adaptation and Scale Up of INSPIRE has been produced by the INSPIRE Adaptation and Scale-Up Team and Working Group, in collaboration with government-led coordination groups to end violence against children. The guide serves as a resource on the adaptation and scale up of violence against children prevention programmes to ensure that they are as much as possible aligned to existing evidence, and are part of each country’s national action plan. It is a practical and flexible tool to help policy makers and practitioners make decisions as they select, adapt and implement activities to prevent and respond to violence against children.

INSPIRE Indicator Guidance and Results Framework

This Indicator Guidance is to assist governments and partners in monitoring progress and tracking change over time. It was produced to help countries achieve that recommendation by establishing a common set of indicators to track changes in the prevalence of violence and the results of programmes designed to address violence against children across key sectors.
