Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) Forum 2022

Key speakers:

From September 19-23, the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) Forum will take place in Cancun, Mexico. SVRI Forum is the largest global, abstract-driven research and advocacy conference on violence against women, violence against children, and other forms of violence driven by gender inequality. It brings together researchers, funders, practitioners, policymakers, activists, and survivors every two (to three) years to connect, learn and share.

During the conference, Together for Girls team members and partners will highlight the Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys (VACS) as an important tool in violence prevention:

  • Begoña Fernandez, TfG Director of Data and Evidence, will present findings from The Power of Data to Action: Country experiences and lessons following the VACS, as part of a session on violence against children.
  • Lina Digolo, Senior Associate at the Prevention Collaborative, will share the story of Kenya’s progress between the first and second VACS and provide a preview of the efforts underway to understand the policy and programmatic action that led to significant reductions in violence against children.
  • Manuela Balliet, TfG research and policy advisor, will share a powerful story about violence in and around schools in Côte d'Ivoire and what is needed to ensure children are safe to learn.
