The Government of Botswana led the implementation of the Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) in 2015, and launched the VACS report in 2019. Botswana, with support from PEPFAR, is the first country to incorporate HIV testing into the VACS methodology to learn more about the intersection of HIV and violence.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development coordinated the implementation of the Botswana VACS, with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), PEPFAR, and UNICEF.

Botswana is currently in the process of developing its response plan, and partners are working to prevent and respond to violence.
