International Day of the Girl

Every October 11, we celebrate International Day of the Girl to recognize the achievements, opportunities, and challenges impacting girls and young women everywhere.

In 2023, International Day of the Girl was celebrated under the theme "Invest in girls’ rights: Our leadership, our well-being."

2023 - Invest in girls’ rights: Our leadership, our well-being

We're at a crucial moment this year. The global community is at half-time to reach the SDGs and we're also campaigning for the critical reauthorisation of PEPFAR.

The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) saves lives, prevents HIV infections, and accelerates progress toward achieving HIV/AIDS pandemic control in more than 50 countries around the world.

PEPFAR is the largest commitment by any nation to address a single disease in history. As we commemorate International Day of the Girl this year, we praise PEPFAR as a game changer in addressing gender-based violence through a wide range of investments and also partnerships. One of those is Together for Girls.
