Supported by funding from UNICEF and PEPFAR, through USAID and CDC, and based on the findings from the Nigeria VACS, priority actions were developed through the Technical Working Group on Violence Against Children. Over the course of a year, 2014-15, the TWG considered how violence could be prevented and how the barriers to children accessing quality services could be overcome.
Every State in Nigeria was called upon to develop their own specific action plans to address violence against children. Lagos State was the first State to respond to this call to take action. The Lagos State Technical Working Group (TWG) on Violence against Children was convened by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) to develop State specific Priority
Actions across all key sectors relevant to child protection.
