Welcome to Section 1.1 Introduction to the Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys (VACS)!
This section introduces the global impact of violence against children, the need for and history of the Violence Against Children and Youth Surveys (VACS), the process of implementing the VACS, and the global impact of the VACS through the Data to Action approach.
The VACS are nationally representative household surveys led by national governments with technical assistance from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as part of the Together for Girls partnership. Surveys are conducted among children and youth aged 13 to 24 years and have been conducted in 24 countries.
The VACS includes measures of sexual, physical, and emotional violence, the context of violence (including perpetrators and location of violence), risk factors, and health, education and social outcomes.
