Tanzania Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) report 2024

In 2024, the Government of Tanzania launched the second Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) — to measure progress made since the 2011 VACS and identify emerging trends in violence against children — with technical assistance and quality assurance monitoring from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as part of the Together for Girls partnership.

The VACS measure multiple forms of violence against children and adolescents including sexual, physical, and emotional; they also provide important data on risk factors, protective factors, and consequences of violence.

Partners included:

  • Government: Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, National Bureau of Statistics, Office of the Chief Government Statistician.
  • Bilateral and multilateral organizations: UNICEF, CDC, and Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THSP).
