Kenya Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) report 2020 (data collection 2019)

In 2019, the Government of Kenya launched the second Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) — to measure progress made since the 2010 VACS and identify emerging trends in violence against children — with technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as part of the Together for Girls partnership. The VACS measure multiple forms of violence against children and adolescents including sexual, physical, and emotional; they also provide important data on risk factors, protective factors, and consequences of violence. In 2020, the Government of Kenya launched their first VACS report with support from PEPFAR, CDC, UNICEF, and other partners.

Partners included:

  • Government: Department of Children’s Services (Ministry of Labour and Social Protection) with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.
  • Bilateral and multilateral organizations: PEPFAR and CDC.
